Management Information Services
Management Information Services (MIS) is directed by the Chief Information Officer and is staffed by a Network Administrator and computer support personnel.
MIS exercises primary responsibility for the research, design, development, and implementation of any technology-based information systems for the Fire Department.
MIS administers the Department's Wide Area Network. MIS uses data from a variety of sources to perform administrative analysis, conduct comparison studies and cost analysis, and update performance measure reporting and forecasting.
Fiscal Office
The Fiscal Office is headed by a Fiscal Officer and is staffed by finance, accounting, and procurement specialists. It is responsible for the preparation and administration of the Department's Annual Operating and Capital Budgets, as well as the coordination of the Emergency Medical Services Billing System. To this end, the Fiscal Office performs the following functions:
- Establishing and maintaining all necessary accounting records and procedures
- Processing a biweekly payroll of approximately $4.4 million
- Processing all revenue receipts
- Coordinating all procurement/purchasing functions
- Processing all vendor payments
Warehouse
The Philadelphia Fire Department Warehouse operates under the aegis of the Fiscal Officer and is responsible for: the ordering, receipt, recording, storing, and delivery of all required office and janitorial supplies, as well as, medical supplies, and firefighting equipment to all fire stations and Department facilities on a daily basis. The Warehouse is also responsible for processing payments due to vendors for warehouse purchase orders through the use of the ADPICS system. The Stores Manager and Stores Supervisor also coordinate with and assist the Equipment Officers, Emergency Medical Services Officers, Safety Officers, and Hazardous Materials Unit Officers in the purchasing of firefighting equipment, medical supplies, Firefighter personal protection gear, and hazardous materials cleanup supplies.
The Warehouse also:
- Maintains supply, equipment, and personal property inventory systems
- Provides daily mail service to Field locations
- Picks up equipment for repair
- Handles special projects such as stripping ladders from condemned apparatus and supplying new apparatus with initial start-up equipment
- Arranges for the delivery of oxygen cylinders and heating fuel for the entire Fire Department
In 1999, Warehouse personnel were instrumental in the receipt and distribution of training materials and furniture to the training sites.
Facilities Maintenance
The Facilities Maintenance Office is responsible for capital projects and maintenance to all Fire Department facilities. This support unit ensures that every firehouse and other Philadelphia Fire Department facilities are running at peak efficiency.
